Hi! If you’re new here, welcome! Brooklyn Family Travelers is a platform dedicated to helping families travel meaningfully and joyfully (on points!) with kids in tow. Expect new posts once or twice a week about all things family travel, credit cards and points related.
I mentioned this in this week’s June Rewind, but when we got back from Detroit this last weekend, I finally had a chance to look over all of our summer plans and decided I was a little too ambitious with one leg of an upcoming trip.
One of the things I love about traveling is how free it makes me feel. I love the idea of being able to go and see the world so much. But, at times, plans can make me feel boxed in.
Can you relate? We’re talking about this in the Substack group chat HERE if you want to chime in!
I thought it might be interesting to share how and why our plans changed and what I did to come out ahead, actually saving money (and points).
So, here we go with a breakdown!

The trip
Europe (surprise!)
We planned for two weeks in three cities:
Krakow, London and Stockholm.
This was always a bit of an odd trip (I hear you!). It’s jumping around a large continent in a way that didn’t exactly make a ton of sense. But, I really wanted to go to Krakow, the kids wanted to go back to London and we all wanted to go to Stockholm. Sometimes we put trips together based on compromise and at the time, it made sense.
Below the paywall:
Curious how we saved 80,000 points and $1,200 with a last minute pivot? I break down all the details on how we originally booked the trip — and the exact steps I took to make the changes (and save!) — just for paid subscribers below.
